Quantitative data on\nwheelchair operation is an effective basis for education, but a scoping review of wheelchair assisted running on slopes revealed that there are\nfew studies on the effects of cross slope during wheelchair assisted running, and objective knowledge, including statistical tests, is lacking. Therefore, an experiment was conducted to objectively clarify how wheelchair assistants operate wheelchairs when running on a cross slope, and to verify the effects of cross slope. Ten healthy adults acted as assistants, and ran a wheelchair carrying a person on a 5m experimental runway with a variable cross slope. The assistants' upper limb electromyograms, strength when gripping the wheelchair, wheelchair running trajectory, and subjective operating sensation were measured, and the effects of three types of cross slope (0, 2, 5%) were compared.\nAs a result of the experiment, the %MVC of the left forearm flexor and right forearm extensor, and the left strength when gripping the wheelchair increased significantly with an increase in cross slope.\nFurthermore, the CV value, which indicates the amount of left right movement of the wheelchair, increased significantly when the cross slope was 5% compared to the other two conditions.
